I have a 500Gb external drive that is nearly full. Have to say it's got a load of junk on it but I was totally surprised by the amount of images I have stored. As I mentioned in another thread I was doing an upgrade to Windows 7. Instead of upgrading I decided to do a completely clean install. After I checked all was ok I installed Adobe Lightroom and decided to rebuild the catalogue from scratch. I asked Lightroom to import all the images on my external hard drive to it's catalague. So far it ...

Living near the sea means that the dominant bird species round here is gulls, they are everywhere and getting more aggressive. I watched them swarm a heron the other day and the poor bird was chased right off their patch. Down on the beach they will gang up on the crows who try and scavenge food but they spend half their time fighting off gulls. The gulls have taken to swooping on tourists trying to get them to drop their fish and chips. A couple of days ago I thought I saw a peregrine being ...

Adobe Systems on Monday unveiled a digital photo format that it hopes will become an industry standard, plus a tool designed to convert photos to that format from the many that are used today.

With the company's new Digital Negative specification and converter tool, users can translate and store raw files, which contain images prior to any in-camera processing, from more than 65 types of cameras. This process is different from ...

There's been a lot of talk recently about Microsoft HD Photo format being the new standard for JPEG type images, so I thought I'd do a bit of research to see if it's all it's made out to be.

First of all let me say this is rather a long article but worth reading.

Microsoft recently changed the name of an obscure, proprietary image file type, Windows Media Photo, to Microsoft HD Photo. It, just like the long-forgotten JPEG 2000 format, offers the potential of a reduction in file sizes while ...

Am taking my daughter to her first rock concert on Monday (Muse at the SECC).... how uncool is that - going to your first gig with your mammy?

Anyway got me thinking about my first concert - Tears for Fears at the Glasgow Appollo in 1984 - and thought I'd like to know what everyone else's first was! (The friend who was taking us car broke down on the way there, and he had to phone his brother to come up and take us rest of the way to Glasgow.... luckily he had one of the very first ...

Routes I take are M5/M4/A33 then back roads to Farnborough. From Haslemere it varies but I like A3 to Petersfield, then across to the A34/A303 to Salisbury, ...

Have been using windows XP on my desktop for a long time and often used memory sticks to transfer data etc to/from my laptop, also running XP. I have just bought a new Toshiba laptop running windows VISTA and am having problems using the memory sticks, it doesn't seem to like them. A 2 Gb mem stick works ok but when I try to use an 8 or 16 Gb stick the computer gets most upset and won't read them. On one occasion the computer locked up completely. Yet the stick still work fine on my XP machines. ...

I've heard of people being invited to beta test; also heard of people being invited to join who aren't Beta testers; but from Fuji I've heard or seen nothing! Have I missed the boat? Does anyone know what the situation is with My Fuji, I feel a bit like a mushroom.... but then with Fuji, why would I be suprised at that?

How typical.

My first day off work in Easter holidays with kids and I end up in Casualty!!

My 11yr old son broke his wrist, and whilst in the emergency room my 14yr old daughter fainted

I think I'll go back to work now - doesn't bode well for the rest of the hols...
